Before the days of emails and social media the postcard was very popular, cheap and an easy way to keep in touch with friends and family when going on holidays. In Australia the Rose Stereograph Company of Armadale, Victoria manufactured the real photograph type of card up to 1967, which is very collectable today. The Company was the best and most prolific in this field.
When going on holidays people often bought photo postcards of the place where they were staying, some kept as souvenirs for themselves, others to post to their friends. It was so easy, as if to say in just a few words ‘Hey, look where I am!’ There was no room for complicated etiquette which inhibited letter writing among the ordinary folk.
The postcards reproduced in this book will take you on a nostalgic photo tour to a lovely holiday destination. Enjoy.
The book is approximately A4, with 48 pages. 42 of these are picture pages that show two vintage Rose Series postcards to a page taking the reader on a nostalgic tour of region of Port Campbell to Portland via Warrnambool & Port Fairy.
