Before the days of bridges the only access was by sea when excursion boats and ferries brought residents and tourists back and forth. We see these vessels and the bridges that followed, the first opened in 1940. We tour San Remo on the mainland where the bridge connects. We journey east through the southern Gippsland region visiting the historic towns of Wonthaggi, Inverloch Korumburra and Leongatha. How things have changed. We stop to explore these places and note the old streetscapes and the hotels as they were. We continue onwards to Wilsons Promontory pausing to look at Toora and Foster. As with others in this series this book gives a short history of the humble postcard and how they were made but it is very much a picture book filled with large photographs from old postcards.
